Cost and group size
01What's the minimum group size and cost?
We charge for a minimum of 10 students. Smaller groups are welcome and are charged as 10.
- 1-hour tours: $15 + HST per student
- 2-hour tour: $25 + HST per student
Groups of more than 100 students are welcome with advance notice.
02How many teachers and chaperones tour free?
1 free teacher or chaperone per 10 studentsExtra teachers and chaperones pay the student rate for their tour.
Please bring the number of teachers and chaperones your school board requires. Teaching a special education class? Tell us when you ask for your quote and we'll confirm places for your teachers and chaperones.
03How do free places work for student travel companies?
The same rule applies: 1 free teacher or chaperone place per 10 students. For 48 students and 5 chaperones, 4 chaperones are free and 1 pays the student rate.
04What if our student numbers change?
We understand school group numbers fluctuate. Final headcount can be confirmed up to 48 hours before your tour date, and we'll adjust pricing accordingly.
We charge for the headcount you confirm. Students who don't come on the day are still charged.
05What's the student-to-guide ratio?
Maximum 20 students per guide. Larger groups are split into smaller walking groups with more guides, so every student can hear clearly and take part.
Planning
06How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks ahead for spring and fall field trips, though we can often accommodate shorter notice. May, June, September and October book earliest.
07Can you adapt tours for different grade levels?
Yes. Our guides adjust storytelling, vocabulary and activities to your group's age and interests. We welcome groups from Grade 4 through university.
08Are tours accessible for students with mobility needs?
Yes. Our routes can be modified for wheelchairs and mobility devices. Tell us about accessibility needs when you ask for your quote so we can plan the best route.

On the day
10Where do we meet, and where does our bus go?
Distillery District tours meet at the front gates. Buses drop off on Trinity Street, just north of Mill Street, a short walk north of the gates.
Old Town and combined tours start at the main entrance to St. Lawrence Market.

11What happens if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine. We have covered areas in both neighbourhoods and backup indoor activities if needed. We only cancel for severe weather, such as thunderstorms or heavy snow. If we cancel, you get a full refund or can reschedule.
12How do we pay?
We accept purchase orders, cheques and credit cards for school bookings. Payment is due 48 hours before your tour date.
13What if we need to cancel?
Cancel 48 hours or more before your tour for a full refund. Inside 48 hours, your tour is charged for your confirmed headcount, and we'll move your date when we can.
If your school or board closes, or your buses are cancelled for weather, there's no charge. We'll reschedule.
