Toronto Segway tour FAQ

Before you ride

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Peace of MindYes! Bungee jumping, skydiving, even some yoga classes ask for a waiver. The good news is this - we're 100% pure fun after 20 years and 150,000+ riders.

Our oldest rider was in their late 90s! So you can probably do this too.

What should I wear on my tour?

Comfort FirstClosed-toe shoes and whatever the weather calls for. Sandals and heels get uncomfortable fast, and long flowy scarves can catch while you ride.

Toronto weather changes its mind, so bring a layer. Helmets are on us, and they're sanitized after every ride.

Safety and eligibility

Who should not take a Segway tour?

Check FirstMOST people can learn the Segway easily - but it still takes balance and a bit of confidence. We don't recommend our tours past the first trimester of pregnancy, or for anyone with a seizure disorder, a balance condition, or heart condition.

There are also age and weight limits, which are in the next question. We're happy to answer anything you're unsure about, so call us at (416) 677-3831 and we'll talk it through.

Is there an age or weight limit?

Know Before You BookYes, and they're set by the machine as much as by us. Every rider needs to be between 100 and 280 lbs (45 to 127 kg). A Segway needs a minimum weight on the platform to balance properly, which is why there's a floor as well as a ceiling.

Age depends on the tour. Distillery District tours and the Ghost Tour are 12+. The Canary District tour is 16+, because it covers more ground at higher speeds.

What if I can't pass the training session?

Full RefundYou get your money back. If our guides decide you can't ride safely, we don't want to take the risk more than you do.

This is rare but when it happens we'd rather be safe than sorry.

Can I bring a bag on the tour?

Safety FirstLeave the big bags behind - we can keep them secure in our office. Riding safely takes both hands, so nothing should be swinging off your shoulder.

Can I take photos during my tour?

Instagram ReadyLeave it to our guides! Our tour guides will gladly take your photo during the tour - so you can safely keep your hands on the handlebars.

We'll get the proof you want for Instagram or your next family slideshow.

Booking and groups

How big are your tour groups?

Small GroupsEight riders max in the Distillery District, four in the Canary District. That's small enough that your guide knows everyone's name.

Sizes shift with the day of the week and with seasonal events in the Distillery District, so check what's on before you plan your day.

Do you offer private Segway tours?

Private ToursYes, and they're some of our favourite bookings. Teams, birthdays and custom group outings all work, in either the Distillery District or the Canary District.

Call (416) 677-3831 or see our Toronto team building page for custom timing and group rates.

What happens if it rains during my tour?

Weather CoveredLight rain, we ride. Segways are water resistant, and we'll lend you a poncho in a colour you won't forget.

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and hazardous snow are where we stop. If we cancel for weather, you can choose a full refund or a new booking date.

Cancellation and booking policies

Cancellation

When you reserve, we schedule guides and support staff around your booking. We've run tours since 2005 and we know life happens, so booking direct gets you more flexibility than the resellers offer.

24+ hours before Full refund Under 24 hours No refund Departure

Refunds land on your original payment method within 3 to 5 business days. Shrinking your group follows the same timeline. All times are based on your departure time, Eastern.

Rebooking

Move your date at no charge with 24 hours notice. Inside 24 hours we charge 15%, because staff schedules are already set. Travel delay or act of nature? We waive the fee.

If a tour hasn't reached its minimum, we may need to cancel a solo booking up to 12 hours ahead. We'll first try to move you to another departure that day. If we can't, you get:

  • A full refund of the tour cost
  • 30% off a future tour, valid 6 months
  • Priority rebooking assistance

Weather

Light rain is fine. We don't operate in severe thunder and lightning, moderate to heavy rain, or snow that makes riding hazardous. We only call you if we're certain your tour won't run.
